Inspired by vintage branding of Ontario’s parks, this logo was designed to evoke nostalgia, using the shield form and 70s-style colours and border lines. The typestyle is Interstate, designed for highway signage.

Urban Park Guelph
I was asked to design a lawn sign for Urban Park Guelph, an exciting local response to the federal government’s call for proposals for urban parks. This sign turned out to be very popular—multiple printings of 1,000 copies were made, with the support of the Toronto-based NGO Wildlands League—and quickly multiplied across Guelph lawns.
As a result, the client asked me to expand this sign into a logo and brand. This pro bono project is close to my heart. If successful, it will add a 142 ha (350 acre) park to our city. Every liveable city needs a grand park: Think Central Park or High Park.
